The pun's because of what happens in Devil Survivor. For the main plot, the main character is pulled into a war between a bunch of demons for the Throne of Bel, making him a Bel. You later learn that he's the reincarnation of Abel. Thus, he's Abel, and A Bel.
I solved it with no temporaries but always try for speed. i can 'smell' an outline so the 8 in the first column was simply drawn as part of it. By inspection, looking at the second column, it has to be in the top half. Couldn't say for sure if it is possible using 'simple' logic.
