Hint for hanjie - the middle design is symmetrical through the line with 3,1,1,2,1 in.

I don't know how you all solved this Hanjie! I only solved it by looking at everyone's guesses. I basically drew a dollar sign, a euro sign, and the L in a box was easy.
    dollar,euro,capital letter = financial capital?

I've been puzzling on this dingbat all eve!
    money - currency - L plate?
Money box, but what is the L? Money laundering?
Perhaps Swford's "financial capital" is right! Makes more sense!

You're getting there. Think of the word you'd normally associate with two currencies together like that.

With the L plate who usually wears one.

Exchange Student or Foreign Exchange Student is correct. Sorry folks, my internet connection at the weekends never stays logged in for more than 5 minutes on this site so I don't read the comments as often.

We don't use the L plate for student drivers where I live. So no chance of my getting this one. Thanks for the puzzle anyway. It was a brain stretcher!
