I'm in Canada (Ontario). My house FEELS like an igloo with these temperatures right now. We are just in a very deep chill. It has actually warmed up this afternoon to -23C with a -33C wind chill. Normally it is around -10C to -12C this time of year but we do get these very bad cold snaps 2 or 3 times a winter.
If it's any consolation, in the UK we have been having really bad storms. My friend was flooded out of the house on Christmas Day - they had to wade through 18 inches of water with presents, turkey, trimmings, etc and cook Christmas dinner at a relatives. Now they're in a hotel and can't go home for several months whilst the house is drying out... but it could be worse .... :)
